This is the widest EL wire being manufactured at present.
The core is similar to the 3.2mm electroluminescent cable but it has an additional vinyl coating. This coating serves a few purposes. It diffuses the light away from the core creating a softer effect than with the narrower wires and from a distance the effect is a wider band of light. The additional coating also helps protect it from moisture.
If you are thinking of using it in costume, do consider the effect of the weight and pull on the fabric.
